Prior to being appointed Chief Emergency Management Officer of HSE South in 2007, Peter Daly served in the Defence Forces as a Commandant in Army Ordnance Corps. He severed in a number of Defence Appointments including as an instructor is the Ordnance School and the Officer in Charge of Naval Ordnance Workshops.
He has a particular interest in C-IED, CBRNe and remote technology. He was seconded to the UN as a weapons inspector in WMD. He graduated from UCC in Science and holds a PhD in fluid dynamics. As the Chief Emergency Management Officer of HSE South he was the line-manager for the Inter-Agency Emergency Management Office (IAEMO). The IAEMO is responsible to provide support on a full time basis to the participating agencies in the consideration and implementation of their responsibilities in planning and preparing for their response to Major Emergencies. This includes co-ordination and preparation of mandatory External Emergency Plans (EEPs) for COMAH [Seveso] sites.
Currently he is involved in research and co-ordination for a number of EU Horizon 2020 Projects and is a WP lead for ROCSAFE.
